Please Note:   Continuing Education Teachers work 5 hours daily and are paid $45.98 hourly, plus vacation pay as per employment standards, which is deemed inclusive of any and all entitlements.

SUMMER ELEARNING TEACHERS – SECONDARY

Teachers are required for the following course:

Senior - World Religions and Belief Traditions  - French Immersion (HRT 3MI)

DESCRIPTION

Under the guidance of the Summer School Principal, the eLearning Summer School Teacher will carry out the Board’s elearning strategy by using technology to provide both differentiated and direct instruction. The teacher will provide on-line instruction and be available to students online for a minimum of 3 hours per day, Monday to Friday.   The hours that teachers are available must be communicated with students online.  He or she is responsible for the preparation of class material and assignments, marking, and parental contact.

Summer eLearning Teachers will participate in an online summer school meeting with the Principal of Summer School  in June, date to be determined.   Teachers will facilitate a synchronous online Orientation Workshop on the first day of the eLearning July 2, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Teachers may apply for more than one posting, as classes may be cancelled due to enrollment.

QUALIFICATIONS
→ Bachelor of Education and a member in good standing of the Ontario College of
    Teachers
→ Intermediate/Senior Basic Qualifications

→ FSL 
→ Qualification with respect to specialized subjects will be required as per Ministry
     regulations and Article 11.02 7(b)

QUALIFICATIONS :
•    Must be qualified Intermediate / Senior;

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers
  • Qualifications in Intermediate Division 
  • Additional qualifications in Special Education Part 1
  • Knowledge of current Ministry initiatives
  • Excellent English language communication skills, both oral and written
  • Sound knowledge of evidence-based assessment practices, including the use of diagnostic assessments to inform teaching and learning
  • A commitment to supporting the use of technology in instruction and learning, and to promoting an environment of innovation and creativity that engages the 21st century learner
  • Working knowledge of the IPRC process and the IEP, as they relate to planning and programming
  • Knowledge, experience and proven ability in utilizing differentiated instructional approaches within the classroom that support effective instruction and engage students

As per Article 7.05 of the current Elementary Collective Agreement, this domino position is open to full-time and part-time teachers from the Elementary Panel. A full-time teacher assigned to this position shall remain in their current assignment for the remainder of the current school year. They shall be assigned on paper to this position and shall be staffed at Holy Cross/St. Benedict during the Spring Staffing Process for the 2024-2025 school year. A successful part-time teacher applicant shall be assigned to this position as Available for Transfer (AFT). In the spring, they shall be declared Surplus B and shall be staffed in accordance with the Staffing Procedure outlined in Article 8.
