ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Current member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers
Qualifications in Senior English and Business

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Prioritize support for independent adult online learners while maintaining a balanced approach to serving students in both the traditional classroom and virtual environments, recognizing the majority of students' preference for online, self-paced learning.

Please Note: Continuing Education Teachers work 5 hours daily and are paid $45.98 hourly, plus vacation pay as per employment standards, which is deemed inclusive of any and all entitlements.

SUMMER ELEARNING TEACHERS – SECONDARY

Teachers are required for the following course:

Senior - World Religions and Belief Traditions - French Immersion (HRT 3MI)

DESCRIPTION

Under the guidance of the Summer School Principal, the eLearning Summer School Teacher will carry out the Board’s elearning strategy by using technology to provide both differentiated and direct instruction. The teacher will provide on-line instruction and be available to students online for a minimum of 3 hours per day, Monday to Friday. The hours that teachers are available must be communicated with students online. He or she is responsible for the preparation of class material and assignments, marking, and parental contact.

Summer eLearning Teachers will participate in an online summer school meeting with the Principal of Summer School in June, date to be determined. Teachers will facilitate a synchronous online Orientation Workshop on the first day of the eLearning July 2, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Teachers may apply for more than one posting, as classes may be cancelled due to enrollment.

QUALIFICATIONS
→ Bachelor of Education and a member in good standing of the Ontario College of
Teachers
→ Intermediate/Senior Basic Qualifications

→ FSL
→ Qualification with respect to specialized subjects will be required as per Ministry
regulations and Article 11.02 7(b)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
→ Prior experience as an eLearning Teacher
→ Prior experience using the PRISM
→ Prior experience using the vLE (Virtual Learning Environment)

REQUIREMENTS
→ Strong knowledge of elearning and the pedagogy related to online learning
→ Strong knowledge of teaching in subject areas
→ Broad knowledge of child development and teaching methods
→ Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing in English
→ Ability to communicate and relate with people tactfully, diplomatically, and
professionally at all times
→ Excellent organizational skills
→ Self-starter and ability to work with minimal supervision
→ Ability to attend work on a regular basis
→ Demonstrated proficiency using the vLE, PRISM, Zoom, Skype for Business, email, and different operating systems such as IOS and Windows based platforms

The following position is available effective August 30, 2024 for the 2024-2025 school year. The Alternative Education for Expelled and Suspended Students – Program Leader position is a system position and will be staffed at St. Albert Adult Learning Center. The successful applicant, at the end of the year will be staffed out of their home school for staffing purposes for the following school year. DESCRIPTION:
Under the direction of the Superintendent of Education and the Principal of the school where the Program is offered the Alternative Education Program Leader will:

•   Deliver embedded Intermediate and Senior curriculum expectations and non-academic programming;
•   Co-ordinate Intermediate and Senior Experiential Learning activities;
•   Liaise with SCDSB Secondary Principals and Vice Principals;
•   Liaise with SCDSB Attendance Counsellor and Chaplains;
•   Liaise with the Learning Support Services;
•   Liaise with Community Agencies and Partners.

QUALIFICATIONS :
•   Must be qualified Intermediate / Senior;
•   Qualifications in Special Education;
•   Cooperative Education and/or Outdoor Education qualifications would be considered an asset.

REQUIREMENTS:
•   Solid experience in Literacy, Numeracy and Student Success initiatives
•   Highly effective computer skills
•   Must possess exceptional and well developed written skills
•   Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills
•   Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills
