March 4, 2009 - This year’s Marymount Junior Regals Volleyball team began the season with little experience, a ton of talent and team spirit that was unrivalled. The team competed in numerous tournaments making it to the championship finals in four of six tournaments and capturing two Championships; the Champlain Tournament and the Cardinal Classic.

The Marymount Regals completed the regular season with an impressive 8-1 record to finish first in a very competitive field of ten teams. In addition, they defeated their toughest opponent, the Lasalle Lancers, in a close and exciting semi-final match to earn a spot in the City Championship. The Junior Regals represented Marymount Academy in a city volleyball championship for the 5th consecutive year.

The Lo-Ellen Knights would match up againstt the Regals in the final and were determined to beat the favoured Marymount Academy team. The Regals came out in the first set and showed the Knights they would have to play their best ball to bring down the young Regal squad as they were defeated 25 – 8. The Regal magic would continue as they dominated the match defeating Lo-Ellen in 3 straight sets to capture the coveted Division 1 Junior City Volleyball Championship.

Congratulations to the Junior Regals!
