Dr. Costello, local doctor and author of six novels, his latest Here After, chats with Grade 11 and 12 students at St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School on what it takes to become a burgeoning author in the 21st century.

March 3, 2009 - Local doctor and author, Dr. Sean Costello visited St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School to speak to the students regarding the creative writing process and his new novel Here After.

Sean Costello is a master of the poignancy of everyday living. “Here After,” (his sixth novel) Dr. Costello tackles a difficult subject with wit and humanity-and a couple of really good scares. It’s a father and son story that will touch your heart." (author Susie Moloney)

While researching this novel, Sean learned of organizations like Child Find and the role they play in the process of returning missing children to their families. In honour of that role, he has decided to donate all personal proceeds from the novel to Child Find.

Dr. Costello addressed the Grade 11 and 12 students at St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School and encouraged them to read and write as much as possible if their long term career goal is to be an author. “The more you write, the easier it gets,” Costello told the students.

Dr. Costello is also an anesthesiologist and writes novels on a part time basis as more of a hobby. Costello also urged the young aspiring writers to take in writing conventions as much as possible to meet the agents and publishing companies.

Dr. Costello’s other works include Eden’s Eyes, The Cartoonist, Captain Quad and Finders Keepers.
