January 31, 2007 - Jenna Kennelly a Grade 4 student from St. Theresa Catholic School and Christina Rorison a Grade 1 student from St. John Catholic School were two of nine students to be presented with 1st and 2nd place prizes in the my!sudbury / oui!sudbury Colouring and Essay Contest. The awards were presented to the students by City of Greater Sudbury Mayor John Rodriguez at a ceremony held at the Valley East Citizen Service Centre/Library.

In November 2006, students from Greater Sudbury elementary and secondary schools were invited to participate in the my!sudbury / oui!sudbury campaign contest and share their pride for the community.

“Through this contest it became evident that the youth of Greater Sudbury have a tremendous sense of pride for their community,” said Greater Sudbury Mayor John Rodriguez. “Many essay entries and pictures depicted our beautiful landscapes, attractions, schools and friendly neighbourhoods. These youth truly feel that ‘my!sudbury’ is their own.”

my!sudbury oui ! sudbury is more then a slogan – it is a campaign that gives all members of the community the pride to act as ambassadors for Greater Sudbury. The campaign assists in building a foundation for community cohesiveness in order to attract business investment, recruit and retain professionals, promote tourism and encourage internal investment.
